During Future Textiles, the three-week event in May 2011, Knowledge Centre for Smart Textiles will attract the most influential international profiles from the many fields of smart textiles, including special-made fibres, manufacturing and finishing, nanotechnology, electronics and sustainability. The focus will be on known and new areas where smart textiles can make a difference. The purpose is to join forces in reaching a vision 2020 for the textiles of the future. For two days, the leading global experts and selected companies will meet for an intense programme with many exciting professional, technical and social activities. The aim is to promote collaboration between researchers and the textile industry in order to create new ideas and develop prototypes for textile products of the future. The focus will be on more sustainable and functional clothing for work and recreation; life-saving textiles; textiles that can improve our health and the environment; and textiles that can make the everyday life easier for consumers

The Expert Summit will be the launch of a global network that will set new standards for smart textiles. During the Expert Summit, the winner of the international prize competition for design and engineering students will be selected at an exclusive award ceremony. Space will be limited and participation is by invitation only. Future Textiles’ International Expert Summit will take place at TEKO on the evening of May 11th, for the full day May 12th and in the morning of May 13th 2011. The summit will be facilitated by Innovation Lab, one of the partners in Future Textiles.
